Ive seen a video of the iPad version of this app and decided to try it out on my iPhone with a cat Ive been cat sitting. He thought it was amusing. He shoved my phone around on the carpet a bit before hesitantly touching the screen. It wouldnt make the sound for him, which was a disappointment for both of us. I then brought it home to my two cats. I put the phone down on an area rug and one cat had a hilarious time batting around under the rug. The second cat sniffed it, but wasnt too interested.
General impressions: hilarious to humans watching, as it seems to reveal insight into how cats minds work (all the cats I got a response out of thought the bugs were under the phone (or even under the thing the phone was sitting on) rather than on it.
Immensely satisfying to pay for a cat toy and actually have cats be interested. All three test cats frequently turn up their noses at toys that just dont interest them.
I was disappointed that it didnt respond to cat touches like in the iPad video I saw. They may have been touching it wrong (my mom had a hard time getting the sounds, too), but for an app marketed for cats, it should take into account a lack of touchscreen precision.
